As a freelance economist and researcher, I specialise in strategic policy analysis to support climate and environmental goals. My work identifies how trade, skills, investment, and governance can drive the structural changes needed in energy and industrial systems. My experience
With over 15 years of experience, I’ve advised decision-makers at all levels of government to shape policies that improve living standards in the long-term.
Currently, I am working with the UK Trade and Development Evidence and Innovation Programme to assess the environmental implications of the Developing Countries Trading Scheme. Recently, a collaboration with Circle Economy, the ILO, and the World Bank resulted in the first global baseline for circular economy employment.
Until 2025, I provided strategic guidance to the Pacific Islands Forum in WTO as a Trade and Environment specialist. Previous senior roles at Circle Economy and within the UK Government focused on the intersections between sustainability, labour, trade and industry. I notably reported on the impacts of environmental interventions on jobs, and evaluated the long-term sectoral impacts of EU exit. Beginning at ICF and Cedefop, the foundation of my career was built on integrating climate policy with trade and skills strategies.
My background
As a dual British-Dutch national, proficient in four languages, I bring a versatile and cross-border perspective to my work. Academically, this is supported by an MSc in Governance of Sustainability from Leiden University, an MA in Economics from the College of Europe, and a BSc from the University of Warwick. Currently, I am based in the Hague, with my partner and twin daughters.
